Bonjour to a Minority Language in Hong Kong: French

Hello! We are Becky, Carrie, Evelynne and Jamie, a group of Language & Communication students from The University of Hong Kong taking the course LCOM 3001 Cultural Dimensions of Language and Communication, currently working on a project which focuses on a minority language in Hong Kong - French.

This website will connect you with the French people living in Hong Kong, be they immigrants or second generations. By drawing attention to their linguistic practices, adaptation to Hong Kong culture and their feelings towards the status of the French language and community here, we wish to highlight the significance of linguistic and cultural diversity. In the following pages of the website you will be able to find an overview of our research, some fun facts about France and French people in Hong Kong, the interviews we have conducted and an analysis of our findings.
